A cognitive and neurolinguistic approach to bilingualism that looks into how language is represented in the brain: that is, how and where our brain stores our knowledge of the language (or languages) that we speak, understand, read, and write. The main areas of discussion are related to the study of the neurophysiological mechanisms by which the brain processes information related to language and they involve neuroscience, linguistics, cognitive science, neurobiology, and communication disorders among others.
